Three Little Pumpkins

All in a Row
In the kitchen window...just a little reminder that it's pumpkin time.
This summer the virginia creeper grew all over back side of my house because I had so many
plants I was watering (it got the run off) and because we had a mild summer.
I've just let it grow but it's taking over my kitchen window.
At some point...I'm going to have to trim it.

But I've enjoyed the wildness of it.

Here it is October 30th and I still have not had a pumpkin cappuccino yet!
Each year my sister and I anxiously look for the pumpkin cappuccino banner to go
up on 7-Eleven.
As a rule I never go in 7-Eleven or any other convenience store except to grab a quick
pumpkin cappuccino in the fall.

Starbucks is better...yes...but 7-Eleven's is cheap.
And I like cheap.

So I saw the banner was up one day about two weeks ago and
called my sister to let her know.

She said..."I know...I'm sitting in front of one right now...drinking my first!"

Myself..I've yet to have one, it's been too warm.
But this week it cooled off and it's on the agenda for this evening.

If you think I've had great restraint in avoiding this treat, consider
that I've had pumpkin ice cream twice in the last month!

I love pumpkin flavored anything in the fall!

Mod Mix Monday #172

 via
Are you ready for Halloween?
I'm not.
It just has not happened for me this year. I've had to accept that.
It's just not going to be this year.
I can't get my outside decorations out of the garage cause I can't get the garage door open
and I didn't get anything done in the house.
I'll just move on and go straight to Christmas.
You won't hate me for that, will you?
I just didn't have it in me.
But I wish I had a display going on like that one above.
It's glorious! Can a Halloween display be glorious?
I think so.

So here are my faves from the last time I did a Mod Mix Monday which has been two weeks ago.
Sorry about that.
Vicky of If It Were Mine always shows houses that need some help.
She takes them room by room and shares photos of how the rooms could look if they were her's.
This photo is how she would redo the kitchen of the old house in her post.
I love this vintage kitchen!
Pam of Everyday Living puts together some amazing tablescapes.
Like this one under the arbor at her home.

Pam did this one too for her son's wedding!
Wonderful, isn't it?
 This one I really love.
Kyla of House of Hipsters took some store bought candles with not so pretty labels
and designed and printed some of her own with her own name on it.
Aren't they much more upscale?
I need to do this...cause I often buy cheapish candles with ugly labels.
Marium of Decorative Vintage scored that great vintage painting above.
But check out her awesome card catalog too. All of this looks so perfect together.
Priscilla took us on a tour of her home all decked out for Halloween.
I'm a big fan of her chalkboard.
Spooky little glittered raven cookies by Simply Suzanne's.
Darling!

Even though I'm not celebrating Halloween this year...I'd love to see what you are doing.
Link it up!

Please join in this week's Mod Mix Monday!

Remember anything old made over to be new...anything new changed up to look old.
New and old together...

Open House Sunday

I hate to say it but I'm not sure where I found this house.
I saved it in a folder but now the link to it has gone bad.
I thought this New York City brownstone made for a nice house to show as we near Halloween.
It's all greys and whites and black.
That collection of mirrors on a white brick wall is very nice mixed with the globe pendants.

I love that this house is just a mix of neutrals. It's very sharp.
I could never limit myself this much. But I love how this place looks.
Well, I love all of this but the deer head. I know they are in style but I will never embrace them.
Oh...I'd embrace this kitchen though....I'd dance with it all night.
Cozy child's bed
Simple and yet striking bathroom.
I think those portraits above the bed are too spooky.
Nothing spooky about this closet though.
The clothing is even all neutrals! She must have hidden her colorful clothing for this photo shoot.

Indian Summer

Sorry, Mod Mix Monday didn't happen this week. I'll just do it next week.
Too much going on with starting the new job.
Which is going really well.
I'm spending this week just getting to know all the lines of furniture.
Last night when I came home I came around to the back deck and the geraniums, though it is October 22, looked the best they've looked all year.
I couldn't resist taking a few photos.
Silly Sally running around the deck.
My deck needs to be cleaned and refinished so badly.
That's a project for next year!
I've been saying that for several years.
Coleuses went nuts. I think you are suppose to keep them from blooming
but the bees love the blooms so I just let them bloom.
 Harvey and Sally
My wall fountain looked better earlier in the season.
But it's still blooming like crazy.
I was going to replace these geraniums with pansies the other day but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
They are super healthy. So I'll wait till after it's really cold to put out some pansies.

Sweet potato vine shows no signs of slowing down.
One day I'll come out and it will be all dark and withered when it gets cold.
I tried to get some good photos of Franklin but he was busy hunting squirrels.
Here you can see how long his fur has gotten.
He's got a very beautiful coat and it's very very soft.
That's a show worthy stance.

Open House Sunday

This pretty Atlanta home was renovated by Mike Hammersmith Inc.
These photos were taken on a brisk fall day.

See more of this house here.
