HGTV HOME Fabric Review

Earlier this month I was sent two yards of the new HGTV Home fabric carried exclusively
by Jo-Ann Fabrics.
They are on sale right now at Jo-Ann's plus you'll get an extra 10% if you print and use the coupon
at the end of this post.
I loved the pattern they sent me. This print also comes in a few other color stories too.
The fabric is 100% cotton and is of a very substantial weight.
It sewed up very nicely and was easy to work with.
There are several other prints I'm anxious to use also.

I walked around my house for quite awhile trying to decide exactly what I was going to do with it.
Finally, I decided upon my guest room.
I haven't shown it since I brought in this vintage rattan headboard.
I'd bought the comforter at Ross a couple of months ago.

The HGTV fabric complimented it well.
I love fabric covered shades and this seemed like a perfect opportunity to make one.
Just a little hot glue and some gimp on the inside to cover the raw edge and my shade was done!
I never liked the original shade that was on this lamp.
Next, I wanted a pillow for the bed. The obvious choice was to use the coordinating houndstooth
fabric on the backside...but I wasn't feeling it.
Instead I made a pleated ruffle using the fabric left with a rough edge. I unravelled the edge a little.
I really love how this turned out.

This is just a fabulous new line of fabric.
I have to say I hadn't been in a Jo-Ann's in a couple of years.
I'd given up on their upholstery fabric. They never had anything I liked.
But it's totally revamped now...there were many upholstery fabrics I loved.

And the HGTV fabrics were stand outs!

Just print the coupon to get 10% off!

There is also a HGTV Fabric @ Jo-Ann's Pinterest page that shows many of the projects fellow bloggers have made from their same samples of fabric.

I think you'll enjoy seeing all the creative projects other bloggers whipped up.

Mod Mix Monday #99

Sweet Tweet Wallpaper
Oh...my wallpaper with sweet little parakeets all over it and roses and butterflies too!
Isn't that the prettiest? But it's fun too.
Love just about everything in that photo above.
It's so relaxed but pretty and special.

I went crazy picking favorites from last week's Mod Mix Monday.
I really did try not to pick too many but there were so many I loved.
I have a lot to show here today...and I'm not even showing all the ones I was nuts for.

Let's get started...shall we?
First, Christine at Little Brags took something as simple as a clearance lantern
and made it much better with just a little paint.
But the lantern is not the only reason I'm showing this vignette.
She linked up her big basket bedside table a few weeks ago and I loved it then too...
with the old gate behind it.
It's just a nice way to do the whole bedside thing in a totally different way.
Martha Leone Design is always showing up here.
This is a really great mid century tallboy dresser painted in a wonderful shade of yellow.
But I have to say her child's painting on top is the perfect accessory.
Jean Selep loaded her hutch down with gorgeous vintage floral china.
Love the layers and layers of china..mixed with bunnies for spring.
Of course the wall color and the chandi are very nice too.
Beth at Make Me Pretty Again took an old 1960's television cabinet, painted
and stained it in a great way.
I used to think old tv cabinets were the worst of the worst...but this makes me want one.
Doesn't it you?
Who doesn't love a wondrous kitchen make over? And this one is wondrous!
Erin of It's A Wannabe Decorator's Life painted her wood stained cabinets
and put in new tile and countertops and this is what she has now.
Oh...new appliances added to the effect also.
It's so fabulous...oh...I want.
Andrea of Cottage and Broome filled her kitchen window with these bright rustic pots of succulents.
Margaret of River Run Antiques and Crafts painted this vintage dresser
with Miss Mustard Seed paint and let it do what it likes to do.
I love how it chipped in a way that showed off the fancy details.
Ok, lastly...I could not resist these two!
Tea in Texas has a lovely post about blue bonnets and a pretty table setting
and taking photos of her dogs. But I just had to share these two. One still a baby.

I almost adopted a collie once...
I still think about her and wish I had.

Share your Mod Mixes for this week below.
Remember anything old made over to be new...anything new changed up to look old.
New and old together...
Please include the Mod Mix Monday logo and back link to me.

Open House Sunday

Sweet Spanish Cottage
built 1931
Ok, this cottage is wonderful. I love both the architecture and the way it's decorated and the gardens.
This home was built the same year as my own cottage.
It starts with a pretty front yard garden.
I love the detail of the porch.
The humor and style of this home begins on the front porch with an orange bench.
The purple front door opens to a stylish home.
I love the furniture choices made through this entire home.
Love the low sofa mixed with asian inspired stools for a coffee table.
Very pretty fireplace and I like the beams painted white.
Look at the shape of the arched doorway going into the dining room.
It mimics the shape of the porch.
I adore that rug in the dining room mixed with a traditional table and white modern chairs.
That painting is fabulous too.
Notice the original sconces and light fixtures were kept in the home.
Love that.
One whole wall is a built in bookshelf in the living room.
I love the way they've styled it.
Interesting items and books.
The books are arranged according to color.
I love this look although I'd think it would be pretty hard to find the book you need.
Another shot of the dining room. Notice the arches here.
I've never seen any like them.
Look how thick the walls are!
It's not a very big room. But there is plenty of storage in the furniture pieces they have chosen.
This is probably the only room I'd want to make major changes too.
The gray cabinets are pretty but I'd rather have white just because this is a small galley kitchen and
I'd want this room to be light and bright like the rest of the house.
I'd change out the tile too and do a solid surface for the counter tops.
Wouldn't take much to make this kitchen super pretty.
Black and white floor. I used to like these but after having lived with one...I'm not such a fan.
Now, look at the darling breakfast nook!
This is perfection except for that light fixture.
It needs a cute chandelier immediately.
Nook in the hallway. The arch matches the doorways in the home.
This desk would have been where the phone was originally.
I'm assuming this is a middle bedroom turned sitting room.
Hallway includes a linen storage closet. I love those.
Serene simple master bedroom.
Love the drapes, rug and the blue bedspread.
Baby's room is simple but has everything a baby needs.
Ok, I'm crazy for this bathroom.
Love the original vanity.
Also love the arch over the tub. I like the choice of black and white toile and stripes in here.
Cute towels too. Pictures over the tub is a cute idea.
The yard is really special. Pea gravel patios abound.
Can't you just imagine the crunch as you walk through?
Love the big blue pot, purple flowers and orange tree.
A wonderful spot to dine outside.
Only thing needed here are french doors from the house to the outside.
I'm surprised that has not been done.
How about this space?
I adore those outside sofa bed things with the canopy.
Wonderful wall fountain too!
Doesn't this cottage have so much going for it?
It's quaint, stylish and fun!

See the full listing here.

Hope you are having a great Sunday!
